Vice Minister Qu Dongyu met with Mr. Marek Sawicki, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Republic of Poland, in Poznan on Sept. 21, 2015. The two sides signed the Agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Republic of Poland and the Ministry of Agriculture of the People’s Republic of China on cooperation within the framework of the Polish-Chinese Centre for Agricultural Science and Technology.

Vice Minister Qu and his polish counterpart Ms. Szalccyk co-chaired the 6th Meeting of China-Poland Agricultural Cooperation Working Group which discussed further expanding the pragmatic bilateral cooperation in agriculture.

Vice Minister Qu noted that Poland is a major agricultural country in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), with abundant agricultural resources, and advanced in agricultural research. Poland is not only an important country on the network of China-advocated "Silk Road Economic Belt", but also an important partner in agricultural S&T, trade and investment. In recent years, the two ministries have conducted fruitful cooperation, particularly in agricultural S&T, livestock, veterinary services, quality and safety of agricultural products, and agricultural trade, under bilateral and multi-lateral cooperation mechanisms, such as Agricultural Cooperation Working Group and Agro-trade & Economic Cooperation Forum between China and CEE Countries.

Vice Minister Qu also called for mutually-beneficial cooperation in agricultural research by implementing the Agreement, so as to advance agricultural trade.

During his stay in Poland, Vice Minister Qu attended the opening ceremony of the Int'l Trade Fair for the Food Industry (Polagra-Food) and related events, and made a field trip on polish agriculture and rural development.
